Tatarstan is located in the centre of the Russian Federation in the territory of the East European Plain on the confluence of the Volga and Kama Rivers, in the centre of a big industrial region. This is one of the most economically developed republics of Russia. The standard of living here is about four times higher than is the Russian average. The republic owns a big scientific and intellectual potential and has many key industrial sectors – petrochemical, engineering, automotive and air industry.
The president of the Republic of Tatarstan je Rustam Nurgaliyevich Minnikhanov. Rustam Nurgaliyevich Minnikhanov is a golfer. He plays on the left (I found this out a bit later). When Juraj Werner called me on Sunday and spoke of Tatarstan, I laughed like an idiot (as I thought I was being recorded and would subsequently be laughed at by the listeners of some radio). I shook my head thinking that Americans confuse the Czech Republic with Chechnya and here am I (ignoramus) being clueless. I was ashamed all week.
On a state visit Rustam received a left handed, but one hundred percent genuine Czech jag´ copper putter with his own name. So perhaps after a minute putt he won’t just throw it into the Volga or Kama.
