Synchronicity

Slightly different news

Synchronicity is an unexpected event falling into the context of passion. It is as though you dream at night that you have scored a hole in one and the next day you do.

Something like that happened to me. Even though this example is probably not the right one to describe synchronicity and is far from a way of affirming what happened to me. In any case, the more I do the more luck I have.

There must be enthusiasm to begin with. And this is something I have. Eagerness is also something I have. The confidence that I can do this and will be chosen. This is clear. I will rewrite history, gladly. Recently I read a book written in 1960s England (about World War Two) and I discovered that all of its 800 pages are in total contradiction to what I learned in school. This shows that history is only written by winners and it doesn’t matter how you learn, but what is important is what you learn and you often cannot influence this.

Enthusiasm builds enthusiasm and my success with putters is quick and big. In two years (from 2007) I managed to place my products on all continents and added celebrities, which I had never even dreamed of, to my clients. I mastered techniques, technology and materials I had no idea or even heard of before. I won. I rewrote my history. I felt that this was equal to my efforts.

But a little more is needed for global success particularly on the golf market. Marketing, distribution network, presence on Tour. Balls are not enough, you need cash. Plenty of cash. And enthusiasm. And eagerness. Otherwise the global companies – which you normally don’t compare with – can tear you to pieces because in a cost-effective volume of products, you are forced to depend on a distribution network and thereby on marketing and lots of earned money to supply the chain. A small volume of custom-made products brings with it extreme non-productivity with all its consequences. More work than profit.

This admission has been building in me for a long time. Eating away. I feel it is as a debt I owe to myself.

It only happened recently. Synchronicity. New impulse, enthusiasm and eagerness. Confidence.

I will not stop making putters but continue making them for my friends, acquaintances and enthusiasts. A few every year. If I feel like it. Perhaps I will come up with something from my stuffed drawer and make something special, something flamboyant. Something that will sell out in a week. But nothing will be the same as it was. The debts have been settled. History has been rewritten.
